Dear Friends,
I just returned from a visit to Aruba where I participated in the Fudacion Autismo
Aruba's first conference (http://www.autismoaruba.org/). Yes, the beach was lovely,
and the ocean was the most amazing array of blues and turquoises (is that a word?),
and the Aruban desert is like no other climate on the earth. AND the Arubans are
just as extraordinary and special as the beauty of the island. How would I describe
them? Kind, hospitable, cosmopolitan, multi-lingual! Four languages are spoken in
Aruba! So, for someone like me who stims on foreign tongues, I was in HEAVEN! In one
conversation, I picked up English, Spanish, Dutch, and the very special language of

LEAAD isn’t a peer-mentoring program; it’s much more than that. Erika Pumilia explains, “I think schools that have peer mentoring programs mostly do it to cover themselves.
