Mr. Inevitable

Elijah Wapner is a standup performer and autistic joekster nonpareil! Wherever he goes, Elijah’s quirky slant on parents, school, music, and the lives of people inhabiting the “typical” world are raising eyebrows and getting laughs! Say hi to Mr. Inevitable, and don’t worry, he knows you’re laughing, even if you’re watching this DVD in the privacy of your own home!

“Joe Schtick” is Elijah’s debut performance at age 13 as “Joe Schtick.” Most of his jokes were favorites memorized from books. He had a catalogue memory for humor from a very early age, but this was the first time he got up the gumption to get on stage!

“Theme Song Psychic” is one of Elijah’s first standup acts as “Mr. Inevitable.” It contains his own original material. And he’s pretty good at air guitar, too!

“The Autism Act” was the fruit of Elijah’s appearance on MTV’s “True Life,” which told the story of how he decided to come out on stage as a person diagnosed with autism. A bold move, and one more giant step for mankind! In this scene, he’s performing for his county legislature.

“Inappropriate” is Elijah’s exploration of the ironies of the educational system, a satiric look at the state of “special” education, and his own celebration of being a “sped.” C’mon over to the dark side!

In "A Chat with Elijah’s Mom," joine Valerie Paradiz, PhD, author of Elijah’s Cup, as she tells the story of Elijah’s emergence as a standup comic. Val also shares helpful information for families, therapists, and fellow educators on topics ranging from advocacy to fostering deep and focused interests in children with autism spectrum differences (ASDs).
